Meet the Tiger Team | Katrina Johnson, Lead Designer

Welcome to our first of many “Meet the Tiger Team” blogs! We’re so excited to introduce you to Katrina Johnson, our Lead Designer! Katrina's creativity and vision are a huge part of our success here at Tiger and we're so lucky to have her on board. Not only is Katrina passionate about design, but she also loves spending time with her family and friends.
Let's get to know her a little better.
Can You Tell Us a Bit About Yourself?
Yorkshire born and bred, I’m a quiet person, love the outdoors and nature. I like to garden and bake, sometimes combining the two, making Jams from our homegrown produce. I enjoy lots of different crafts which I will sometimes use for making gifts to give friends and family.
What is Your Role at Tiger?
My main focus is overseeing the building imagery on site and in print to make sure it’s accurate and as distinctive as the buildings themselves. I also create bespoke cabin drawings and cutting lists for customers.
Can You Describe a Typical Day at Tiger?
The day starts with a coffee – can’t start without one! (Milky coffee, half a sugar. Very picky about it!). Once I have sorted my priority list, I plan out the drawings and put together the lists of components that need to be made from our timber mill and in our cabin workshop. I also curate any pictures of finished buildings that come through from satisfied customers, and work on our marketing images to go on tigersheds.com, or into our brochures or press ads. There’s quite a lot to pack in!
What Motivates You?
I can be quite critical about my own work so I’m always looking for ways to improve. I want to look back at things I’ve done with a sense of pride.
What’s The Best Part of Your Job?
I enjoy seeing the customer images – we get quite a lot, especially in peak season. It’s great to see Tigers being loved and enjoyed, and I am always intrigued to discover the many ways they get used. I love creating the CGI gardens for our lifestyle imagery and often use our customer images as inspiration.

How Long Have You Worked at Tiger?
Coming up to 10 years.
What Has Been Your Favourite Project?
Designing the stand for our first RHS show: this combined one of my hobbies with my work and I loved every minute of it.
What Are You Most Proud of in Your Work So Far at Tiger?
We won a 5-Star Exhibitor award for our first trade stand at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park. Though I think we can do better the next time we go!

What Do You Like About Working at Tiger?
I get to combine a lot of skills and hobbies with my job.
What’s Your Favourite Tiger Building?
I have a bespoke Tiger cabin which I use a lot all year round; but if I had another choice I would say the Tiger Potting Shed – being an amateur gardener, I could see myself spending a lot of time in one at the bottom of the garden!
