Garden Cabin Uses
A garden log cabin is a fantastic, affordable way to add some new indoor space to your property. If you need extra storage for tools, you want to build a Wendy house for your kids, or just create a little indoor nook in your garden, a small log cabin is a great investment.
Naturally, larger log cabins are slightly more versatile. A properly insulated log cabin with the right lighting and interiors could make the perfect garden office, allowing those who do hybrid or remote working to leave the distractions of the house and find some focus, without the lengthy commute.
You could also build a super convenient home gym, kit it out as a man cave or craft den, or just create an extra cosy reception room for your family to enjoy throughout the year.
Log Cabin Styles
There’s a large range of log cabins for sale on the market, so it can be tricky to know which style will perfectly suit your home. Here are some of the most popular log cabin styles available:
Corner Log Cabin
Ideal for making the most of an awkward space, our selection of corner log cabins fit snugly in a corner of your garden, offering you a luxurious indoor room with a perfect view of the surrounding greenery, even if your garden isn’t that spacious to begin with.
Insulated Garden Cabin
If you’re looking for an extra space you can enjoy all the way through the year, an insulated garden cabin is an excellent choice. All our cabins are made with high-grade timber, but the 44mm thickness of these cabins offers greater heat retention, making them especially comfortable in winter. You can also add further insulation to your cabin by installing a material like bubble foil – take a look at our how-to guide to find out more.
Traditional Log Cabin
For a tasteful, classic aesthetic, why not opt for a traditional log cabin? Handcrafted in our Yorkshire factory, our traditional log cabins are built with interlocking logs for structural integrity, and you can choose a pre-designed model or request a custom build for your garden.
Contemporary Cabin
Alternatively, a contemporary log cabin is a great choice if you prefer a more modern look in your home. These elegant builds include large windows for maximum natural light, making them the perfect spot to read, relax or work on a project and look out at your garden.
Roofing Options
As well as choosing the design, you also have a few options when it comes to the roof of your log cabin shed.
Apex
Log cabins with an apex roof design are topped with two slopes that form the traditional stylish ‘A’ shape, and can provide slightly increased headroom, and vertical storage space.
Pent
Alternatively, garden log cabins with a pent roof have a contemporary flat shape – this is sometimes a more budget-friendly option, and these rooms can be simpler to clean too.

Guide to Wooden Cabin Thickness
19mm Log Cabins
Our wide range of 19mm log cabins are ideal for smaller gardens and outdoor spaces, but while they’re more compact they don’t compromise on style. This thickness offers something between a shed-style summerhouse and a more heavy-duty cabin, so it can be used for a whole host of different things, from additional storage to a comfy reading spot. Most commonly found thickness for small log cabins.
28mm Log Cabins
By contrast, our 28mm log cabins offer a higher level of heat retention, and a more robust structure which can often be used year-round in countries without extreme seasonal weather. The models designed in this thickness also come with a four-way chamfered notch system, which helps to prevent wind penetration and damp, so you can continue to use this durable cabin in comfort.
44mm Log Cabins
The most durable option in the line-up, our 44mm log cabins offer an extra level of warmth, structural solidity, and resistance to the elements. And with the same anti-damp and wind protection as the 28mm option, this is a cabin you can use whatever the weather, as a home office in mid-winter or a breezy outdoor space in the summer months.
Log Cabin Maintenance
All our cabins are designed with longevity in mind, but they still need a bit of regular maintenance if you’re going to get the best from them. Our log cabins for sale are made from untreated timber, so you’ll need to treat the wood cabin with a high-quality timber preserver to ensure its durability. You can also paint your log cabin with an external timber wood paint in a colour of your choice to achieve the same effect. Either way, we recommend that this process is repeated annually.
As well as treating your cabin, you need to regularly check the surrounding area. Keep greenery clear from the immediate circumference of your cabin and make sure the roof isn’t accumulating a build-up of natural debris. To avoid damp, you’ll also want to find a way of ventilating your log cabin, either by opening windows regularly, installing wall vents or fans.
Don’t forget to give your cabin a once over after any extreme weather – like storms, snowfall, or heatwaves. Double check that the base is still level, the doors and windows are aligned, and the felt isn’t damaged.
