Corner Summer Houses Uses
Thanks to their weatherproof finish and abundance of natural light, a corner summer house is a very versatile addition to your property. In fact, the majority of our corner summer houses feature large, multi-directional windows that allow for maximum light to reach you throughout the day. Make the most of your outdoor space every summer with our range of corner summer houses. Ideal for compact or unusually shaped gardens, a corner summer house offers an idyllic indoor haven where you can entertain, work on a project, or even just relax and soak up the view.
This makes them suitable for many different functions — but one of the most popular we see today is for a delightful home office for the summer season, where you can find your focus. However, you could also set up a home gym or miniature yoga studio in your corner summer house, or use it for another hobby like a craft, studio space or workshop.
Our small corner summer houses can also be a great place to escape the activity of the house, where you can curl up and read, catch up on your favourite shows or enjoy a slice of solitude on a summer’s evening. You could even entertain a few friends with a cosy film screening or a boardgame night. With the right build for your garden, the possibilities are endless.
The Different Sizes Available
As well as choosing the style and window configuration of your corner summer house, you’ll also need to work out which size works best in your garden. Depending on their measurements, some summer houses may require planning permission, so it’s worth checking the regulations before your purchase.
6x6 Corner Summer Houses
As our smallest model, 6x6 corner summer houses provide the perfect indoor nook in your garden, where you can find some peace and quiet come rain or shine. This is also a great option if you need a bit of additional storage in your garden but would like a multi-functional space you can enjoy too.
7x7 Corner Summer Houses
The next step up is our selection of 7x7 corner summer houses, which may be better suited to buyers looking to set up a garden office or use the space for a physical activity like Pilates. These slightly more spacious cabins also offer that extra bit of storage.
8x8 Corner Summer Houses
The 8x8 corner summer house is our largest model, and therefore the most useful choice. It’s a great indoor space where you can entertain friends and family for a barbecue or birthday party but makes an equally brilliant option if you’re looking for a more generous garden office.

Corner Garden House Maintenance
We build all our summer houses from superior grade timber, with logs that interlock with a chamfered finish. This design helps to keep damp out and ensure your build is weather tight – making it a fairly low maintenance option.
Treatment and Painting
That said, if you want to maximise the longevity of your corner summer house, there’s still some light upkeep that we’d recommend. For example, we recommend that your building is washed down and treated on an annual basis to protect the timber against rot. For our summer corner houses, a pressure treatment is the most suitable option. Once it’s pressure treated, you can consider painting your summer house — as with the right exterior wood paints, this can also help to protect it from the elements and prolong its life.
It’s also worth regularly clearing the roof of your unit (especially during autumn) and checking for damage to the felt, which could lead to damp if not replaced. Find out more about the different elements of a standard build over on our Summerhouses Explained guide.
Ventilation and Lighting
To ensure your corner summer house remains a pleasant and useable space for years to come, you should work out how you’re going to ventilate it. There are several options – from basic wall vents to whirligigs or — or if you’re going to wire your unit into the mains, you could even add an electric fan. This would also enable you to light your summer house properly, but you could choose atmospheric solar-powered lights or battery-operated fairy lights instead.
If you really want to make your summer house an extension of your home, wiring it into the mains and hooking it up to your water supply will make it a hugely versatile space, with no need to go back and forth for power and water.
